Upcoming NYS Fire Officer I “Boot Camp”

The Suffolk County Fire Academy will be offering a NYS Fire Officer I ‘Boot Camp’ over 8-days in a 2-week (non-consecutive) timeframe.  Students must attend all the dates of the ‘Boot Camp’.  The scheduled dates of the program are as follows:

Monday July 7^th– Thursday July 10^th

Monday July 21^st– Thursday July 24^th

All classes will be conducted 8:00am-5:00pm daily with a 1-hour lunch.

**A minimum number of preregistered students will be required.  Failure to meet the minimum enrollment may result in the course being cancelled.

Student Expectations

This curriculum is a high impact course and requires work to be completed in a timely manner.  Students will make good use of the time provided in class for work assignments. This work can include but is not limited to activities, quizzes and tests. Effective use of time in the classroom will facilitate less time being required for homework.  All activities, quizzes, and tests will be required to be completed by the conclusion of each of the five modules.

Failure to have the required work submitted by the required date and time will result in the student being dropped from the course.

Prerequisite: A minimum of 2 years of service following completion of Firefighter I or Basic Firefighter Training or Essentials of Firefighting or Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations with HMFRO, and Engine Company Operations or Ladder Company Operations, and authorization to attend from student’s department Chief.
