Expired Confined Space Rescue Refresher 2023 – June 11th @ 8AM

We're sorry, but all tickets sales have ended because the event is expired.
  •  Sunday, June 11, 2023
     8:00 am - 4:00 pm

The Suffolk County Fire Academy has conducted courses throughout the technical rescue disciplines for years.  As a result, many of our students have successfully attained New York State certification in various topics to include:

  • Rescue Technician – Basic Level
  • Confined Space – Technician Level
  • Rope Rescue – Operations Level
  • Rope Rescue – Technician Level

We realize the opportunity to continue training in these disciplines is specifically dependent on a student’s access to the equipment as well as their involvement with an agency that provides these services.  We also understand the necessity, and priority, of many students, and their respective agencies, to focus on the more prevalent responsibilities they have in their departments (i.e. firefighting, emergency medical services, etc.).  With this in mind, the Suffolk County Fire Academy will be offering certified students the opportunity to participate in the 2023 SCFA Technical Rescue Refresher Weekends.

  • Confined Space Rescue – Sunday, June 11 @ 8am (Pre-requisite – Confined Space Technician)

Students may enroll in one or both days.  Enrollment for each day is limited to the first 20 students who register with the proper certifications.  Students’ registrations will only be accepted after checking their certifications for the discipline being conducted on the days in which they are interested.

Each day will involve various scenarios, in locations throughout the Academy grounds, in the discipline being covered.  Students will be separated into response groups in which they will be given their scenario and a cache of equipment to conduct the operation.  Instructors present that day will act as Safety Officers to ensure safe operations and will provide minimal guidance during the operation.  Once again, we are not providing the course work in these disciplines but rather scenarios for students to practice their skills.

We are looking forward to providing our technical rescue students with this unique opportunity to return to the Academy to participate in technical rescue training.
