Upcoming Basic Exterior Firefighter – 2 @ Suffolk County Fire Academy – Virtual – 2026

The Suffolk County Fire Academy will host a Virtual Basic Exterior Firefighter Course beginning on Thursday, January 8th at 7:00PM.

This course is not for firefighters seeking interior status.

This course is for those who are unable to attend face to face classes held at regional training sites and are approved on a case by case basis.

For example: East End Departments, Fire Island Departments, College students.

There is an application process and you will receive an email with a questionnaire regarding eligibility.

Students are required to attend the first session at the Suffolk County Fire Academy on Thursday, January 8th @ 7PM.

The course is a combination of classroom sessions, virtual and self-paced learning offered over a 6 month period.

The course includes a written final exam.

Student MUST attend all sessions of this course. Seats are limited and registration is required. No walk-ins will be admitted.  After your registration is processed, you will receive a confirmation email with final instructions.

Sessions 3, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 will be self-paced learning.
